The LM101A series are general purpose operational ampli- fiers which feature improved performance over industry stan-dards like the LM709. Advanced processing techniques make possible an order of magnitude reduction in input currents, and a redesign of the biasing circuitry reduces the temperature drift of input current.   • Slew rate of 10V/μs as a summing amplifier This amplifier offers many features which make its appli-cation nearly foolproof: overload protection on the input
and output, no latch-up when the common mode range is exceeded, and freedom from oscillations and compensa-tion with a single 30 pF capacitor. It has advantages over internally compensated amplifiers in that the frequency compensation can be tailored to the particular applica-tion. For example, in low frequency circuits it can be overcompensated for increased stability margin. Or the compensation can be optimized to give more than a factor of ten improvement in high frequency performance for most applications. In addition, the device provides better accuracy and lower noise in high impedance  circuitry. The low input currents also make it particularly well suited for long interval integrators or timers, sample and hold circuits and low frequency waveform generators. Further, replac-ing circuits where matched transistor pairs buffer the inputs of conventional IC op amps, it can give lower offset voltage and a drift at a lower cost. The LM101A is guaranteed over a temperature range of −55 ̊C to +125 ̊C, the LM201A from −25 ̊C to +85 ̊C, and the LM301A from 0 ̊C to +70 ̊C.

The LF444 quad low power operational amplifier provides many of the same AC characteristics as the industry standard LM148 while greatly improving the  DC characteristics of the LM148. The amplifier has the same bandwidth, slew rate, and gain (10 kΩ load) as the LM148 and only draws one fourth the supply current of the LM148. In addition the well matched high voltage JFET input devices of the LF444 reduce the input bias and offset currents by a factor of 10,000 over the LM148. The LF444 also has a very low equivalent input noise voltage for a low power amplifier. The LF444 is pin compatible with the LM148 allowing an immediate 4 times reduction in power drain in many applications. The LF444 should be used wherever low power dissipation and good electrical characteristics are the major considerations.

The LM195/LM395 are fast, monolithic power integrated circuits with complete overload protection. These devices, which act as high gain power transistors, have included on
the chip, current limiting, power limiting, and thermal over- load protection making them virtually impossible to destroy from any type of overload. In the standard TO-3 transistor
power package, the LM195 will deliver load currents in ex- cess of 1.0A and can switch 40V in 500 ns. The inclusion of thermal limiting, a feature not easily avail- able in discrete designs, provides virtually absolute protec- tion against overload. Excessive power dissipation or inad- equate heat sinking causes the thermal limiting circuitry to turn off the device preventing excessive heating. The LM195 offers a significant increase in reliability as well as simplifying power circuitry. In some applications, where
protection is unusually difficult, such as switching regulators, lamp or solenoid drivers where normal power dissipation is
low, the LM195 is especially advantageous.
The LM195 is easy to use and only a few precautions need be observed. Excessive collector to emitter voltage can de-
stroy the LM195 as with any power transistor. When the device is used as an emitter follower with low source imped ance, it is necessary to insert a 5.0k resistor in series with the base lead to prevent possible emitter follower oscilla- tions. Although the device is usually stable as an emitter
follower, the resistor eliminates the possibility of trouble with- out degrading performance. Finally, since it has good high
frequency response, supply bypassing is recommended. For low-power applications (under 100 mA), refer to the LP395 Ultra Reliable Power Transistor. The LM195/LM395 are available in the standard TO-3, Kovar
TO-5, and TO-220 packages. The LM195 is rated for opera- tion from −55 ̊C to +150 ̊C and the LM395 from 0 ̊C to +125 ̊C.

The SN65176B and SN75176B differential bus transceivers are designed for bidirectional data communication on multipoint bus transmission lines. They are designed for balanced transmission lines and meet ANSI Standards TIA/EIA-422-B and TIA/ EIA-485-A and ITU Recommendations V.11 and X.27. The SN65176B and SN75176B devices combine a 3-state differential line driver and a differential input line receiver, both of which operate from a single 5- V power supply. The driver and receiver have activehigh and active-low enables, respectively, that can be connected together externally to function as a direction control. The driver differential outputs and the receiver differential inputs are connected internally to form differential input/output (I/O) bus ports that are designed to offer minimum loading to the bus when the driver is disabled or VCC = 0. These ports feature wide positive and negative common-mode voltage ranges, making the device suitable for partyline applications. The driver is designed for up to 60 mA of sink or source current. The driver features positive and negative current limiting and thermal shutdown for protection from line-fault conditions. The AD620 is a low cost, high accuracy instrumentation amplifier that requires only one external resistor to set gains of 1 to 10,000. Furthermore, the AD620 features 8-lead SOIC and DIP packaging that is smaller than discrete designs and offers lower power (only 1.3 mA max supply current), making it a good fit for battery-powered, portable (or remote) applications. The AD620, with its high accuracy of 40 ppm maximum nonlinearity, low offset voltage of 50 μV max, and offset drift of 0.6 μV/°C max, is ideal for use in precision data acquisition systems, such as weigh scales and transducer interfaces. Furthermore, the low noise, low input bias current, and low power of the AD620 make it well suited for medical applications, such as ECG and noninvasive blood pressure monitors. The low input bias current of 1.0 nA max is made possible with the use of Superϐeta processing in the input stage. The AD620 works well as a preamplifier due to its low input voltage noise of 9 nV/√Hz at 1 kHz, 0.28 μV p-p in the 0.1 Hz to 10 Hz band, and 0.1 pA/√Hz input current noise. Also, the AD620 is well suited for multiplexed applications with its settling time of 15 μs to 0.01%, and its cost is low enough to enable designs with one in-amp per channel.

The TC7109A is a 12-bit plus sign, CMOS low power Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). Only eight passive components and a crystal are required to form a complete dual slope integrating ADC. The improved VOH source current and other TC7109A features make it an attractive per-channel alternative to analog multiplexing for many data acquisition applications. These features include typical input bias current of 1pA, drift of less than 1μV/°C, input noise typically 15μVP-P, and auto-zero. True differential input and reference allow measurement of bridge type transducers, such as load cells, strain gauges and temperature transducers. The TC7109A provides a versatile digital interface. In the Direct mode, Chip Select and HIGH/LOW byte enable control parallel bus interface. In the Handshake mode, the TC7109A will operate with industry standard UARTs in controlling serial data transmission – ideal for remote data logging. Control and monitoring of conversion timing is provided by the RUN/HOLD input and Status output. For applications requiring more resolution, see the TC500, 15-bit plus sign ADC data sheet. The TC7109A has improved over range recovery performance and higher output drive capability than the original TC7109. All new (or existing) designs should specify the TC7109A wherever possible.

The MCP3202 is a successive approximation 12-bit analog-to-digital (A/D) converter with on-board sample and hold circuitry. The MCP3202 is programmable to provide a single pseudo-differential input pair or dual single-ended inputs. Differential Nonlinearity (DNL) is specified at ±1 LSB, and Integral Nonlinearity (INL) is offered in ±1 LSB (MCP3202-B) and ±2 LSB (MCP3202-C) versions. The MCP4901/4911/4921 devices are single channel 8-bit, 10-bit and 12-bit buffered voltage output Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs), respectively. The devices operate from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply with an SPI compatible Serial Peripheral Interface. The user can configure the full-scale range of the device to be VREF or 2*VREF by setting the gain selection option bit (gain of 1 of 2). In Shutdown mode, most of the internal circuits are turned off for power savings, and the output amplifier is configured to present a known high resistance output load (500 ktypical. The devices utilize a resistive string architecture, with its inherent advantages of low Differential Non-Linearity (DNL) error and fast settling time. These devices are specified over the extended temperature range (+125°C). The devices provide high accuracy and low noise performance for consumer and industrial applications where calibration or compensation of signals (such as temperature, pressure and humidity) are required. The LFx98x devices are monolithic sample-and-hold circuits that use BI-FET technology to obtain ultrahigh DC accuracy with fast acquisition of signal and low droop rate. Operating as a unity-gain follower, DC gain accuracy is 0.002% typical and acquisition time is as low as 6 µs to 0.01%. A bipolar input stage is used to achieve low offset voltage and wide bandwidth. Input impedance of 1010 Ω allows high-source impedances to be used without degrading accuracy. P-channel junction FETs are combined with bipolar devices in the output amplifier to give droop rates as low as 5 mV/min with a 1-µF hold capacitor. The JFETs have much lower noise than MOS devices used in previous designs and do not exhibit high temperature instabilities. The overall design ensures no feedthrough from input to output in the hold mode, even for input signals equal to the supply voltages. Logic inputs on the LFx98x are fully differential with low input current, allowing for direct connection to TTL, PMOS, and CMOS. Differential threshold is 1.4 V. The LFx98x will operate from ±5-V to ±18-V supplies. An A version is available with tightened electrical specifications

The Microchip Technology Inc. MCP3204/3208 devices are successive approximation 12-bit Analogto-Digital (A/D) Converters with on-board sample and hold circuitry. The MCP3204 is programmable to provide two pseudo-differential input pairs or four single-ended inputs. The MCP3208 is programmable to provide four pseudo-differential input pairs or eight single-ended inputs. Differential Nonlinearity (DNL) is specified at ±1 LSB, while Integral Nonlinearity (INL) is offered in ±1 LSB (MCP3204/3208-B) and ±2 LSB (MCP3204/3208-C) versions. Communication with the devices is accomplished using a simple serial interface compatible with the SPI protocol. The devices are capable of conversion rates of up to 100 ksps. The MCP3204/3208 devices operate over a broad voltage range (2.7V - 5.5V). Low current design permits operation with typical standby and active currents of only 500 nA and 320 µA, respectively. The MCP3204 is offered in 14-pin PDIP, 150 mil SOIC and TSSOP packages. The MCP3208 is offered in 16-pin PDIP and SOIC packages.

The MCP4901/4911/4921 devices are single channel 8-bit, 10-bit and 12-bit buffered voltage output Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs), respectively. The devices operate from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply with an SPI compatible Serial Peripheral Interface. The user can configure the full-scale range of the device to be VREF or 2*VREF by setting the gain selection option bit (gain of 1 of 2). The user can shut down the device by setting the Configuration Register bit. In Shutdown mode, most of the internal circuits are turned off for power savings, and the output amplifier is configured to present a known high resistance output load (500 ktypical. The devices include double-buffered registers, allowing synchronous updates of the DAC output using the LDAC pin. These devices also incorporate a Power-on Reset (POR) circuit to ensure reliable powerup. The devices utilize a resistive string architecture, with its inherent advantages of low Differential Non-Linearity (DNL) error and fast settling time. These devices are specified over the extended temperature range (+125°C). The devices provide high accuracy and low noise performance for consumer and industrial applications where calibration or compensation of signals (such as temperature, pressure and humidity) are required. The MCP4901/4911/4921 devices are available in the PDIP, SOIC, MSOP and DFN packages.
