The LPC2138FBD64 microcontrollers are based on a 16-bit/32-bit ARM7TDMI-S CPU with real-time emulation that combines the microcontroller with 8 kB, 16 kB or 32 kB of embedded high-speed flash memory. A 128-bit wide memory interface and a unique accelerator architecture enable 32-bit code execution at the maximum clock rate. For critical performance in interrupt service routines and DSP algorithms, this increases performance up to 30 % over Thumb mode. For critical code size applications, the alternative 16-bit Thumb mode reduces code by more than 30 % with minimal performance penalty. 

Due to their tiny size and low power consumption, the LPC2101/02/03 are ideal for applications where miniaturization is a key requirement. A blend of serial communications interfaces ranging from multiple UARTs, SPI to SSP and two I2C-buses, combined with on-chip SRAM of 2 kB/4 kB/8 kB, make these devices very well suited for communication gateways and protocol converters. The superior performance also makes these devices suitable for use as math coprocessors. Various 32-bit and 16-bit timers, an improved 10-bit ADC, PWM features through output match on all timers, and 32 fast GPIO lines with up to nine edge or level sensitive external interrupt pins make these microcontrollers particularly suitable for industrial control and medical systems.

They can accept, without damage or logic upset, up to 500 mA of reverse current (of either polarity) being forced back into their outputs. All terminals are fully protected against Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) up to 2 kV. The TC4426A/TC4427A/TC4428A MOSFET drivers can easily charge/discharge 1000 pF gate capacitances in under 30 ns. These devices provide low enough impedances in both the On and Off states to ensure the MOSFET’s intended state will not be affected, even by large transients.

The TC7662A is a pin-compatible upgrade to the industry standard TC7660 charge pump voltage converter. It converts a +3V to +18V input to a corresponding -3V to -18V output using only two lowcost capacitors, eliminating inductors and their associated cost, size and EMI. In addition to a wider power supply input range (3V to 18V versus 1.5V to 10V for the TC7660), the TC7662A can source output currents as high as 40mA. The on-board oscillator operates at a nominal frequency of 12kHz. Operation below 12kHz (for lower supply current applications) is also possible by connecting an external capacitor from OSC to ground. The TC7662A directly is recommended for designs requiring greater output current and/or lower input/ output voltage drop. The MC 144898 features data retention plus decode and scan circuitry, thus relieving processor overhead. A single, current-setting resistor is the only ancillary component required. A single device can drive anyone of the following: a 5-digit display plus decimals, a 4-112-digit display plus decimals and sign, or 25 lamps. A special technique allows driving 5 112 digits; see Figure 16. A configuration register allows the drive capability to be partitioned off to suit many additional applications. The on-chip decoder outputs 7-segment-format numerals O to 9, hexadecimal characters A to F, plus 151etters and symbols. The MC144898 is compatible with the Motorola SPI and National MICRO-WIRETM serial data ports. The chip's patented 8itGrabberTM registers augment the serial interface by allowing random access without steering or address bits. A 24-bit transfer updates the display register. Changing the configuration register requires an 8-bit transfer.

The MC6821 Peripheral Interface Adapter provides the universal means of interfacing peripheral equipment to the M6800 family of microprocessors. This device is capable of interfacing the MPU to peripherals through two 8-bit bidirectional peripheral data buses and four control lines. No external logic is required for interfacing to most peripheral devices. The functional configuration of the PIA is programmed by the MPU during system initialization. Each of the peripheral data lines can be pro-grammed to act as an input or output, and each of the four con-trol/interrupt lines may be programmed for one of several control modes. This allows a high degree of flexibility in the overall operation of . the interface.
